[Resolved] CMC Upgrade Error Message
I don't know if you took the upgrade server offline, but now when I startup CMC I get an error that it cannot connect to the upgrade server.
This is not a problem as such......what is a problem is that I seem to be unable to dismiss the message which makes CMC pretty much unusable
You have to see the funny side though

Re: CMC Upgrade Error Message
You are the 2nd user in the past hour to mention this issue.
I think the server might have had a hiccup, but as of right now I cannot replicate. There also may be some regional internet connectivity issues. The upgrade server is this server where the forum lives, so if you can reach the forum/website, then the update check should be working too.
I have programmed a 5-second delay into the pop-up notices (upgrade available, upgrade check failure, etc.) to prevent it from accepting keystrokes you were entering when the pop-up popped into view - old versions of CMC didn't have this and sometimes you would dismiss or worse accidentally accept and upgrade while trying to browse your collection.
It seems that on occasion, too much keyboard activity during the 5-second delay causes the problem you described, where you can't click OK. I haven't figured out the root cause yet. When this happens, best thing to do is close and restart CMC.
Please let me know if the problem continues or is resolved.

Re: CMC Upgrade Error Message
Hi
Yes, its fine. I managed to exit from CMC and then could not reproduce the error (I get the popup but I can dismiss it).
If I can manage to reproduce the problem I'll let you know.

Re: CMC Upgrade Error Message
Wait, are you still getting the upgrade check failure pop-up?
What version are you running?

Still working for me. I have upgraded it to my desktop earlier and then I just update my NUC now.

Re: CMC Upgrade Error Message
Sure. I didn't do anything when you said it was possibly a wider problem, but I did just upgrade the Windows OS so perhaps I need to verify the Windows FW (with the network experience I have, it isn't my actual firewall )

Re: CMC Upgrade Error Message
At this point, I think you are the only user experiencing an update check issue, so likely this is a firewall or network connectivity issue on your end.
I googled Socket Error 10013 Access Denied and got this:

Definitely sounds like a local issue on your side.Socket error 10013 occurs when the attempt to access the server is denied. This indicates that the needed socket connection is denied which further implies that a port is blocked or unreachable.

Re: CMC Upgrade Error Message
Yes, was indeed my Norton firewall blocking it. All is well now
