[In v3.0] Type Filter

Post by kkwoodbrey » Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:26 am

We have a feature request now that we are starting to get a lot of 4K content. We would like to be able to filter on the type of disc (4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, HD DVD or DVD. That field is the Type field in My Movies. We only have the one 4K TV so it would be nice to apply the filter to choose a 4K movie or documentary.

That's a great idea. I think it will fit nicely underneath the 'Filter' icon (that currently does nothing).

I also want to put a Rating filter there too (i.e. G/PG/PG-13/R, etc).

I would appreciate more ideas for filters to put in the 'Filter' icon. Anyone/everyone feel free to speak up with any ideas.

Hi Paul

I would appreciate a movie format filter for NTSC and PAL formats, if it is possible.

This looks like it may be partially possible, with hit and miss results. There is a field in MMCM named 'Format', and it has both 'NTSC' and 'PAL' as expected, but also '480p', '720p', '1080i', '1080p', '2160i' (does that really exist?), and '2160p'. For most of my DVD's, I see NTSC being assigned. For most of my Blu-rays, see '1080p'.

Is this the value you want to filter?

There is also a FPS value in the XML file (I already use it to control the display refresh rate). In theory, I could infer PAL by that value being 25 or 50.

Yes, this is the field I was looking at for this request. I bought a few Pal discs in the early DVD years which I still use. My main interest in this request is so the I can use the proper refresh rate though. I do like the idea of knowing which movies are '480p', '720p', '1080i', '1080p' too.

Regarding FPS values, It would be good to know those values somewhere in the Movie details screen.
