[CLOSED] Request "Individual playback app selection"

Hi Paul,

Some time ago I have asked for the feature “Offline titles” und you kindly put it on your ToDo list.

I just mention this because my new feature request is a bit related to it.
Is it possible to define the playback app for each movie individually?

With both feature requests I could integrate ALL my movies into one database.

Scenario as described in “Offline titles”:
Setup a folder for all online and all offline title.
Fill these folders up with meta-data via MyMovies collection management.
Add my online titles into the corresponding folder
(Offline title have only meta-data but the title will be shown in MMbrowser through my earlier request “Offline titles”)

Additional scenario from “Individual playback app”:
I have many movies purchased via the MS “TV&Movie app” which can only be played by this app, but this app can be used in MMbrowser for playback.
This results in 2 databases: One including my Offline and Online titles, another one within the “TV&Movie app”.
If I could select the playback app for each movie individually and follow the same procedure regarding the meta-data as I do for “Offline titles”, the RESULT is:
Each of my movies, no matter if UHD Blu-ray disc, Blu-ray disc, Online (mp.4, wmv, etc.), Online (from “TV&Movie app”) will have its own folder on my harddisk, filled with meta-date from MyMovies, all displayed in MMbrowser, and starteing the playback app via MMbrowser.

Hey Mike,

That's a very interesting idea.

Do I assume correctly that when you select a movie from your 'Movies & TV' app, you want it to immediately begin playback of that title?

If so, then the biggest hurdles here will be to figure out:

a) the address of each title in 'Movies & TV'
b) how to pass the address to 'Movies & TV' to begin playback

The rest, including adding the titles to My Movies and MM Browser, should be feasible.

For each movie you have in 'Movies & TV', can you create a desktop shortcut that launches the movie directly?

Hi Paul,

sorry, but I think my request "Individual plaback app selection" can be ignored... because I just realized that you already have the categories
- play dvd discs with ... (I have set to powerdvd)
- play blu-ray discs with...(I have set to powerdvd)
- play uhd blu-ray discs with...(I have set to powerdvd)
- play other media with...(I have set to Movie&TV app)
This works for me!!

I just created folders for some of my movies which I purchased in the "Microsoft store", filled these folders via MyMovies with meta-data, run sync in MMbrowser and these movies can be lauched (from MMbrowser and playback by Movies&TV app). Fantastic...!


But please don't forget my elder request "Offline titles".
I need this to get my UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Discs (not copied to harddisk) listed and launchable via MMbrowser (playback by PowerDVD)
