Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
Tested on two PCs.
Doesn't matter which movie I pick, when I choose to run the Trailer, MPC-BE launches the black screen and a few seconds later I get the white text FILE NOT FOUND and I have to close out MPC-BE manually.
Haven't upgraded or changed anything in ages, including MPC-BE upgrades. Current PC I'm tying from has MPC-BE x64 1.8.1 installed; not even sure if that's current as I write this.
I have checked and the yt-dlp.exe file is present in the MPC-BE installation folder, so that's not the issue this time.
Any ideas of what I haven't checked?

Unfortunately, YouTube constantly makes changes that break MPC-BE's ability to play trailers.
You MUST keep MPC-BE up to date.

Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
I finally got around to updating MPC-BE to the latest version, 1.8.7.x64
I tested this update on two different PCs and got the same result.
Now, instead of the "File Not Found" message coming up in MPC-BE 1.8.1, in the new version 1.8.7 whenever I try to open a YouTube Trailer I'm getting the message "Cannot render the file". Happens for every trailer I try.
I'm going to paste in a screenshot of the tab in MPC-BE that I think is relevent to this. Can you let me know if anything looks different from your working setup?

Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
It's been a while since I last played a YouTube trailer in MPC.
Unfortunately, I can't get it to work either. It seems to be fully broken.
Note, I tested in MPC directly (not using CMC), I updated to the latest version, and I tweaked the settings. I get the same error you get.
I researched on the MPC-BE GitHub, and I could find no mention of current YouTube issues, other than one link to Nov 2024 in which the maintainer posted that MPC-BE is not an authorized YT player, and may not work.
So for now, it seems that MPC-BE can no longer be used for YouTube movie trailer playback.
I tried on VLC too, hoping it would work. No playback, and no error either, just nothing.
I'm pretty sure this is Google changing YouTube to be more restrictive on playback apps.
I'll do some more research. If anyone else can find any video player that can play youtube content, please post it here.

Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
EXCITING NEWS!!!
Over the years I've tried several times to integrate a web browser into CMC. I've NEVER been able to get it to work well. Definitely not well enough to be useable for media playback.
I'm not one to give up, though, no matter how many times I fail. Tonight, I asked ChatGPT how to do it. It gave me a few options, I chose one that sounded great to me, and with very little effort I I just watched "The Dark Knight" YouTube movie trailer, in 1080p, inside of an app that I wrote!!!
AMAZING!!! You have no idea how frustrating it has been to not achieve this supposedly simple feature for so many years.
The cool part is that this ties into the Microsoft Edge runtime already included with Windows. This is a legit browser, it's essentially Edge/Chromium but with my own GUI on it.
There's lots more to figure out, but there's a very strong possibility I can include the web browser capability in future CMC versions. This can allow for movie trailer playback, sure. But could also make it much easier to pull up streaming services.

Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
That's awesome! I'll look forward to that; sounds like a great solution rather than fighting to constantly keep YouTube playback working in MPC-BE. If you can make the Edge window open, play and then close the window afterwards, all from just clicking the Trailer link in CMC, that's going to be a really sweet integration.
Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
Mission accomplished! It opens in fullscreen, plays the trailer, and closes automatically!
As it is right now, I could have it accept a parameter (the Youtube video ID), and it would be a near seamless replacement for MPC-BE.
But I would much rather fully integrate this functionality into CMC, rather than it be a standalone Youtube video player.

Great! I'm anxiously awaiting the CMC integration.
The trailer link in CMC is one of the most important features for me. I miss it.

Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
Here's a small test program, I'd appreciate feedback. It should open in fullscreen, playing The Dark Knight trailer, then close automatically when the trailer finishes.

Re: Trailers - FILE NOT FOUND
Tried downloading the file via three different browsers and it won't download. They each say Couldn't Download - Virus Detected.
I don't use any additional virus software other than what's available in Windows 11.
