[Moved to CCC v4.0] Validate File Paths

Post by clmber » Thu Dec 10, 2020 2:29 pm

I am trying to use the Validate File Paths in CMC Meta data exporter and received the error: [ERROR] VDP-001: Could not connect to API Server: Localhost. It has no problem accessing the API when I run export. I am on CMC 3.6 and MM 5.31.P7 what am I doing wrong?

Hey clmber,

The Validate File Paths feature in CME v3.6 is broken, and was removed for the next version.

It has been replaced by a new Validate File Paths tool that is in a brand new app, Chameleon CentralController (CCC). This one works.

CCC has been in development for over a year, but is actually being released later this week. It will be part of CMC v4.0. I'm working on documenting the new app now - if you would like to know more, go here: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=390

I read through it. It looks like quite an improvement! One question, and maybe I overlooked it, but will CCC work on Server 2012r2? I use the MM server essentials solution.

I have a Windows 10 PC that I use for home automation. If 2012 isn't the best solution, can I install CCC on it? What would be the best practice in setting it up?

I sure hope it does! I guess we'll find out together...

I wouldn't worry about alternatives yet, I'm feeling optimistic.

I added it to my server2012r2 "C" drive. Outside of a firewall issue, it went without problems. While working on my client, I noticed that the box sets were not nesting. How do I "turn on" this feature again?

There's a change in v4.

When showing "All Media Types", they will group.

When showing "Movies", the grouping is disabled.

There's also a new Media Type filter, "Collections", which only shows Box Sets and Movie Collections.

Is this what you're referring to?

Yes. I default to movies because that is normally what I am looking to watch. All others seem to nest still, including TV Series. I like the option of nesting so I don't have to scroll through as much (bond 50 for example).

I suppose this is something that needs to be added for a future update? If so I have another request; adding the page up/down feature. Media Center use to allow me to page up/down and move the whole screen one screen forward or back. It was much easier to look over my movies collection rather than move one title at a time and still have the titles show up large enough to see (for me).

There are already fast scrolling options, more than WMC had.

I agree you have more than MCE had in these areas, and you have the best replacement out there. As for CME's faster scrolling, I don't know about those, would you point me toward them?

Prev/Next
Rew/FF
Channel Up/Down

There are keyboards equivalents, but I don't recall them at the moment. I think comma and period, and left/right brackets are some of them.
