I've noticed that a number of people are having issues installing mymovies 5.40 and the 5.41 pre-release on windows 11. this is related to the sql server install. brian on the mymovies forum states that only mymovies 5.41 is compatible with windows 11 and to install sqlserver as an interface. anyone else have issues installing mymovies on windows 11 and do you have any advice on how to work around any problems with the mymovies install and sql server?

i may be installing mymovies on windows 11 in the near future

I have a dedicated Win10 Pro running as a VM on my Unraid server. Works perfectly, I see no reason to chase Win11 as I only use this OS for My Movies 5.40.

I don't have any tips for getting MyMovies running on Win11, sorry. My only advice is to stick with Win10 if you can.

i might be buying a minisforum mini pc in a week or so. it comes with windows 11 pro. they are about to launch a new ryzen line and amazon should drop the price on prime day. it does have a ryzen cpu and i have seen a lot of great reviews and a few people from the former foxy forum successfully ran powerdvd 22 with uhd decrypted disks using amd ryzen pcs. i want to run a mymovies server on it

I bought a Minisforum mini PC last year for use in a pinball machine. It was a little lower-end, I didn't need the horsepower for playing back 4K. It's very nice.

As far as NUCs go, I think these AMD versions are among the nicest. But, no matter what you hope for, it's still a mobile chip inside, both CPU and GPU (or more technically, an APU).

I think it'll make a great little media player.

I'm just not sure why you want to complicate things and put a My Movies server on it. Especially since they're hurting for Win11 support.

I probably misspoke. I said mymovies server but all I need with cmc is standalone. I would like to consolidate everything on one pc. Blueiris "my security camera app, mymovies, Adobe premiere, powerdvd 22 for my bedroom htpc, cmc, ccc and cme, photoshop and a few other apps including uhd, bluray, and DVD ripping,. There are a few other apps too that don't come to mind right now.

I currently am running these on my old nuc which after 8 years has started to have some issues. It also can't do 4k uhd.

This minisforum forum pc and the um980 pro iintrigue me because they have an occulink port which allows you to hookup a GPU externally if the amd apu can't handle premier and photoshop or my htpc duties with powerdvd 22 or Jriver 32

Sounds good. Just make sure you've got a plan B in case you can't get My Movies going on Win11.
