Circled in Red, you can see how I found the hidden file. After my post on it successfully importing the discless movie, I noticed that the xml was named (2006) so wondering why I tried to change it back to (2005) but it wouldn't.......leading me to discover the hidden file

It may be hidden, but it is also current according to the timestamp.
I seem to recall one other user who had a similar (identical?) problem a long time ago. I have no idea how something like this happens.

I am not sure if you want to change CMC/CME to see and process hidden files or if I should manually change them all

I'm not even sure how I would grant that capability. I would recommend you change them all. I'm sure there's an easy way to do it.
